Decoding the Immune System: Tolerance, Triggers, and Targeted Care
Course Description
Decoding the Immune System is a comprehensive, clinically focused educational series designed for practitioners seeking a deeper, more precise understanding of immune function, immune dysregulation, and autoimmune progression. Developed in collaboration with PLMI and executive partner Cyrex Laboratories, this course bridges foundational immunology with real-world clinical application.
Through a systems-based lens, participants will explore how immune tolerance is established and lost, how environmental and physiological triggers drive immune burden, and how barrier integrity, inflammation, and immune signaling intersect to influence patient outcomes. The course moves beyond theory, equipping clinicians with practical frameworks to identify early immune dysfunction, interpret advanced immune markers, and apply targeted, immune-first strategies in clinical practice.
The faculty includes Ari Vojdani, PhD, immunologist and microbiologist, whose pioneering work in immune reactivity and laboratory science provides the foundational framework for understanding immune mechanisms; Elroy Vojdani, MD, who brings a physician’s perspective to immune-first clinical workflows and precision-based decision-making; and Robyn Puglia, Nutritional Therapist & IFMCP, who translates complex immune science into practical, patient-centered strategies clinicians can apply across a wide range of immune-related conditions.
Together, this expert faculty emphasizes precision over protocols, clinical reasoning over algorithms, and context over isolated lab values. Participants will gain clarity on complex immune patterns, learn how to differentiate immune activation from autoimmunity, and develop an actionable workflow to guide testing, intervention, and patient education.
This course is ideal for practitioners who want to:
- Understand immune function from tolerance through autoimmunity
- Identify and address immune triggers, barriers, and inflammatory drivers
- Apply Cyrex testing and immune markers with confidence and clinical nuance
- Integrate an immune-first clinical workflow into patient care
- Move toward targeted, personalized strategies for immune-related conditions
Decoding the Immune System reflects PLMI’s commitment to advanced practitioner education—grounded in science, elevated by clinical insight, and designed to support thoughtful, patient-centered care.

Aristo Vojdani, PhD
Aristo Vojdani obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD in microbiology and clinical immunology from Bar-Ilan University, Israel, with postdoctoral studies in comparative immunology at UCLA and tumor immunology at Charles Drew/UCLA School of Medicine and Science. He is a Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University in California, and an Adjunct Professor at the Lincoln College of Professional, Graduate and Continuing Education at the National University of Health Sciences. His ongoing research focuses on the role of environmental triggers in complex diseases, and he has developed more than 300 antibody assays for the detection of autoimmune disorders and other diseases. He has 17 US patents, over 200 articles, and 2 books, “Neuroimmunity and the Brain-Gut Connection” and “Food-Associated Autoimmunities: When Food Breaks Your Immune System,” to his name. He is the CEO of Immunosciences Lab in Los Angeles, California, the Chief Scientific Advisor for Cyrex Labs in Phoenix, Arizona, and sits on the editorial board of 5 scientific journals. His many awards include the Herbert J. Rinkel Award (American Academy of Environmental Medicine), the Linus Pauling, PhD Award (American College for Advancement in Medicine), and the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute Lifetime Achievement Award.

Robyn Puglia
Robyn is a Clinical Nutritional Therapist and Functional Medicine Practitioner specialising in autoimmune conditions, immune system dysfunction, and environmental-mediated illness.
She serves as Founder of The Autoimmune Academy, a comprehensive professional mentoring program for practitioners working with autoimmune patients. As Head of Clinical Education at Cyrex Laboratories, Robyn leads educational initiatives bridging advanced laboratory science with clinical application, and serves on the faculty of AFNLM.
Robyn’s clinical expertise centers on complex case management involving multiple autoimmune diagnoses, chronic infections, environmental toxin exposure, and immune dysregulation. Her work emphasises evidence-based functional medicine approaches, advanced laboratory interpretation, and systematic clinical protocols for conditions including ME/CFS, and gluten-reactive disorders.
Through her educational programs and mentoring, Robyn supports healthcare practitioners globally in pragmatic approaches to autoimmune management, helping them develop the clinical reasoning skills necessary to navigate complex chronic illness cases. -
Elroy Vojdani, MD
Dr. Elroy Vojdani is the founder of Regenera Medical, a boutique Functional Medicine practice in Los Angeles, California.
Upon graduating medical school from the University of Southern California and completing his residency at USC Keck School of Medicine, Dr. V began his career as an Interventional Radiologist, diagnosing and treating complex, late-stage cancers and other extremely debilitating diseases. While this experience gave him unique insights into hospital based medicine, his desire to stop disease before it reached the point of becoming a chronic illness remained at the core of his desire to practice medicine. Today, he continues in his father’s footsteps – pioneering to find answers to medical conditions that go undiagnosed and untreated.
Dr. Vojdani has co-authored over 20 articles in the Scientific literature and continues an integral role in research related to Autoimmune, Neurodegenerative, and Autoinflammatory conditions. He is also the co-Author a medical textbook entitled “Food Associated Autoimmunity”.
