Susan Bukata, MDChair of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of California San Diego
Susan Bukata, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon internationally recognized for her expertise in bone fragility disorders, including osteoporosis and rare genetic bone diseases. Her NIH-funded research focuses on accelerating fracture healing and reducing the need for additional surgical intervention. Dr. Bukata has published extensively in leading scientific journals and holds a patent for cartilage and musculoskeletal soft tissue repair technology. She serves on several prominent boards, including the Orthopaedic Research Society Executive Board, and has been named a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly and other organizations. She completed advanced training in orthopedic oncology and metabolic bone disease at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
