Joe McConnell, PhD
Dr. McConnell cofounded Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (HDL, Inc.) in 2009, and currently serves as President and CEO. After receiving his Doctorate in Clinical Bioanalytical Chemistry from Cleveland State University, Dr. McConnell completed post-doctoral training at Mayo Clinic. He then spent 12 years as Mayo Clinic’s Director of Cardiovascular Laboratory Medicine and chaired its Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program before joining the leadership at HDL, Inc. Dr. McConnell has authored more than 160 leading publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature, primarily in the field of atherosclerosis and the use of novel biomarkers to identify individuals at increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and related conditions. He has been active in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) throughout his career, receiving several prestigious awards and collaborating extensively with esteemed cardiologists, endocrinologists, and world-renowned researchers. Dr. McConnell currently sits on the Boards of the American Heart Association-Richmond Chapter, the Foundation of Health Improvement and Technology (FHIT), Global Genomics Group (G3), and Grenova, LLC.
