Carolyn McMakin, MA, DC developed Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) in 1995 and began teaching FSM courses in 1997. She maintains a part time clinical practice, and has taught FSM seminars in the United States, Ireland and Australia. She has lectured at NIH and at medical conferences in the US, England, Ireland and Australia on the subjects of fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome and on the differential diagnosis and treatment of pain. She has authored 8 peer-reviewed papers on various topics. She treats and consults with NFL and MLB teams and players on the use of FSM in the treatment of sports injuries. Elsevier published her textbook Frequency Specific Microcurrent in Pain Management in 2010.
